The Zebra ZM600 is a six-inch industrial label printer built for continuous duty. Specifically this unit carries the 300 dpi head and the part number ZM600-300E-0000T.
It prints thermal transfer with a ribbon, or direct thermal without one. Therefore one printer covers durable asset labels and short-life despatch labels.
Because the base, frame and print mechanism are cast aluminium, the printer shrugs off dust and knocks. Therefore it suits a warehouse or a production line rather than a quiet office.
Rated output reaches 8 inches per second, which is 203 mm per second. Therefore a six-inch label leaves the printer in well under a second.
Next, speed is selectable in one-inch steps from 2.4 inches per second upward. Consequently you can trade pace for density on awkward stock.
Note that 300 dpi resolution prints fine text and dense two-dimensional codes cleanly. Specifically, that covers small-part labelling that 203 dpi printers blur.
USB 2.0, a bi-directional IEEE 1284 parallel port and an RS-232 serial port are fitted as standard. Consequently the printer drops straight onto a bench PC or an older host system.
However this configuration carries no network card. If you need Ethernet, the ZM600-300E-0100T is the same printer with the print server already fitted.
Furthermore the serial port is a standard nine-pin connector. When you replace an older printer, that usually avoids rewiring the bench.
Media width runs from 51 mm to 178 mm. Therefore the full 168 mm print width is usable.
Also, rolls up to 203 mm across fit on a 76 mm core. Additionally media thickness from 0.058 mm to 0.25 mm covers labels, tags and ticket stock.
Because the transmissive sensor adjusts, it reads die-cut gaps as well as black marks. Consequently continuous, die-cut and tag stock all run without a sensor swap.
First, the printer answers ZPL II, so most existing label templates run unchanged. Furthermore it accepts EPL and XML-enabled printing alongside.
Also, seven bitmap fonts and one scalable typeface are resident. Additionally the printer accepts downloaded fonts, graphics and custom logos.
Barcode support spans Code 39, Code 128, EAN, UPC, PDF417, Data Matrix and QR. Therefore most labelling standards are covered out of the box.
First, the ZM400 prints 104 mm wide and measures 278 mm across. Meanwhile this ZM600 prints 168 mm wide, so wider pallet and carton labels fit.
Specifically the 203 dpi head runs at 10 inches per second. Furthermore this 300 dpi head trades two inches per second for the finer dot.
Note that this unit is the standard-interface build. Meanwhile the networked build adds an internal print server, and we stock that separately.
Our team strips, cleans and reassembles each printer before it ships. Furthermore we check the printhead, the platen roller and the drive train.
Our team then runs media through every sensor position. Finally our team resets the printer to factory defaults. Our team then prints multiple labels, confirming every connection, each function and the print quality.
Read more about us, or see our returns, cancellation and warranty terms for the full position.
Note that ribbon width, core size and label gap all affect a printer. Therefore a quick conversation often saves a return.
If you are unsure which configuration suits you, please contact us. Additionally the maker publishes full documents: see Zebra, who make the printer.
Each printer ships with a UK power cable only. Note that ribbons and labels are not supplied.
Also, connection cables are not included, so you can add one at checkout if you need it. Software is not supplied either, because the manufacturer provides it directly.
Because ribbon and label choice depends on your application, we leave it to you. However we are happy to advise if you tell us the job.
Does the Zebra ZM600 print thermal transfer and direct thermal? Yes. Both methods are standard, so you choose ribbon or thermal stock per job.
What resolution does it print? 300 dpi, which is 12 dots per mm. Therefore it handles small text and dense barcodes cleanly.
How wide a label will it take? Media up to 178 mm wide, printing 168 mm.
Can I add Ethernet to this printer later? Yes. Zebra offers an internal 10/100 print server for the ZM600. Alternatively our ZM600-300E-0100T arrives with it already fitted.
