The ZD420 prints at up to 6 inches per second at 203 dpi (8 dots/mm). So it clears a run of shipping labels or product tags quickly, while still keeping barcodes sharp enough to scan first time. Because it uses direct thermal technology, you never need to buy or fit a ribbon — the printhead simply heats the label media to form the image.

It accepts label media up to 4.09″ (104mm) wide and handles roll stock up to 5.0″ (127mm) in outside diameter. Furthermore, the movable media sensor adapts to gap, black mark, and notch stock, so you’re not tied to one label supplier. The three-button, five-LED interface also makes day-to-day operation straightforward, with status visible at a glance rather than buried in a menu.
